Dental Crowns

Broken or fractured teeth can be extremely damaging to your quality of life. They might cause you to feel anxious, lack confidence, and hide your smile.

However, Dr. Mary and Dr. Antoun, cosmetic dentists in Houston, offer customized solutions to restore damaged teeth. Their work is individualized and unique to each patient to ensure they will love their smile.

A dental crown is one of the most practical methods for restoring a cracked or broken tooth. Commonly referred to as a cap, this type of restoration is custom-made to fit your tooth. It restores your appearance while providing the support your mouth needs.

Our natural-looking, custom-made dental crowns fully cover the visible portion of your tooth, providing adequate support to your other teeth and adding to your beautiful smile.

Conditions That May Require a Dental Crown

Dental crowns are often used to repair a broken or cracked tooth. Depending on the severity of the issue, the condition of your surrounding teeth, and previous dental treatment, Dr. Mary and Dr. Antoun may recommend dental crowns for your oral health concern.

Other issues a dental crown can address include the following:

  • Add protection for a weakened tooth
  • Bind pieces of a fractured tooth
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Restore a tooth after a root canal
  • Repair cosmetic issues, such as a chipped tooth or misshapen teeth
  • Resolve discoloration
When an old filling has deteriorated or fallen out, the cavity might be too extensive for another filling. Dental crowns may be a viable solution to restore function to the tooth.

High-Quality Cosmetic Dentistry for Your Dental Crown

Dr. Mary and Dr. Antoun strive to provide personalized dental care and cosmetic dentistry with natural-looking results. With their sharp attention to detail, your dental crown will closely resemble your tooth while providing the protection and support your mouth needs.

Before preparing the dental crown, the dentist will complete a thorough examination. They will work with their team to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure and have a positive patient experience, such as by using digital scans of your teeth to eliminate the need for messy, uncomfortable impression materials.

After selecting a color for the permanent cap, the dentist will remove the outer parts of the affected tooth to prepare the structure for your custom dental crown. A temporary crown will be placed over the tooth to protect it while you wait for the final product to be prepared at the lab.

You'll wear this temporary crown for approximately two weeks before returning to our office. At your second appointment, the temporary crown will be removed, and the dentist will place the permanent crown to make sure that it feels natural and that you like the way it looks in your mouth.

Upon your approval, the final product is placed over your tooth. Minor adjustments will be made to fine-tune the fit. Then, you'll leave our office with a beautiful, natural-looking dental crown.
