What is a single tooth implant?

A single tooth implant consists of two main parts. The implant itself is a small piece of titanium, which is usually shaped like a screw. At Sapphire Smiles we use only the highest quality brand of top-notch dental implants. This implant is placed in your gum and jaw tissue, where it heals and bonds with the surrounding tissue. Essentially, it functions as an artificial tooth root.

The second part is the crown (false tooth). This crown is shaped to match your existing teeth, and attaches directly to the implant using an “abutment.” The result is a tooth that looks and feels completely natural, and will never shift, move, or fall out.

What common problems do single tooth implants solve?

Single tooth implants are used to restore missing teeth. They’re usually the best choice if you are missing one or more teeth, but the rest of your teeth are strong and healthy.

What can I expect from the single tooth implant Procedure?

The process usually takes a few appointments over a period of 3-6 months. First, you’ll come in for an initial consultation, and Dr. Antoun will decide whether or not you’re a good candidate for an implant. If Dr. Antoun decides an implant is right for you, he will take images, impressions, and 3D x-rays to begin planning the implant placement procedure. He will also scan your mouth using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology to ensure precise placement.

At your next appointment, your implant will be placed. Dr. Antoun will clean and numb your mouth, then place the titanium implant directly into your gum and jaw tissue, based on your treatment plan. The area will be cleaned, sanitized and sutured shut, and you’ll be sent home to heal. It only takes about 2 weeks to recover completely from the initial implant process, but it takes about 3-6 months for your implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone.

You’ll come in for a follow-up so that Dr. Antoun can check your progress. At this time, he will take images and impressions of your teeth, and send them to a dental lab where your crown will be made.
Once your mouth has completely healed, you’ll come back in for your final appointment. Dr. Antoun will attach your crown to the dental implant, completing the procedure and restoring your smile.

How much does a single tooth implant cost?

The cost of a single tooth implant can vary quite a bit based on the location of the missing teeth, the number of teeth you are replacing, your overall oral health, and any preparatory procedures like tooth extraction that may be required before the implant is placed. For an accurate estimate, you can contact Sapphire Smiles for an implant consultation with Dr. Antoun.
