Full-arch dental implants are often called “All-On-4” implants. This is because All-On-4 is one of the most popular methods of restoring a full arch of missing teeth with dental implants. Full-arch implants use a series of 4-6 dental implants on each arch of your mouth. These implants are then used to support a set of fixed or removable implant-supported dentures. Because your dentures will be held in place by the implants, they won’t move or shift, and they will look and feel more natural.
The Full-Arch Dental Implant Procedure
The procedure begins with a consultation at Sapphire Smiles. Dr. Antoun will assess your oral health and determine if full-arch dental implants are right for you. If you are approved, he will begin creating your treatment plan right away. Depending on your oral health, you may need pre-treatment procedures like bone grafts or tooth extractions. Next, Dr. Antoun will place your dental implants. A set of 4-6 implants will be placed precisely into the jaw bone and gum tissue of your upper or lower dental arch. You’ll be sent home to heal after this appointment, and you’ll get a set of temporary teeth to wear while your mouth heals. It will take at least 3-6 months for your implants to heal completely. During this time, you will come in for a few appointments with Dr. Antoun to check your healing progress. At this time, Dr. Antoun will also take impressions of your gums and implants, and begin building your permanent set of overdentures, with the help of a dental lab. Once your mouth has healed completely, you’ll come into our office for your final appointment. Dr. Antoun will check your overdentures and ensure that they fit perfectly. Then, he will attach them to your implants, restoring your smile and your bite.
The Cost of Full-Arch implants
The cost of full-arch implants varies quite a bit, based on factors like your oral health, whether or not any teeth need to be extracted before the procedure begins, and the type of overdenture you choose. To get a quote for the cost of full-arch implants, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Mina Antoun at Sapphire Smiles.
Fixed Vs. Removable Overdentures
Depending on your needs, fixed or removable overdentures may be a good option for you. Fixed overdentures are attached permanently to your implants, and can only be removed by Dr. Antoun. You’ll wear them 24 hours a day, and they don’t have to be removed, but they can be a little bit difficult to clean and maintain properly. On the other hand, removable overdentures snap onto and off of your implants easily. You’ll treat them similarly to traditional dentures, removing them at night and soaking them in denture cleaner. They are easier to care for, but not quite as durable as fixed overdentures.
